He also serves as the clinical leader of the University of Maryland Medical Center Sickle Cell Disease Program. He is the Co-Chair of the Opioid Task Force at UMMC and developed and leads the Overdose Response Program at UMMC Department of Emergency Medicine. In 2015, Dr. Wilkerson received the Outstanding Teacher Award from the UMEM Residency Program. In 2016, he was chosen as a National Foundation Emergency Medicine Scholar, a two-year award to support research.
