Associate Professor and Chair of Education in the Department of Emergency at Cook County Hospital


Dr. Tarlan Hedayati is an Associate Professor and Chair of Education in the Department of Emergency at Cook County Hospital in Chicago. She is also the Associate DIO at Cook County Hospital. She organizes the curriculum and educational activities for the 68 residents and 30 faculty in the department, oversees the M3 and M4 clerkships, coordinates and integrates Simulation and Ultrasound content into residency education, and creates and overseas academic advising plans. She was named the 2019-20 Outstanding Speaker of the Year by the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) and Lecturer of the Year by EM residents for the 2021-2022 academic year. She enjoys speaking on Cardiology emergencies, Critical Care topics, and Medical Education and has been invited to speak nationally and internationally. She has written numerous manuscripts, in addition to serving as author and associate editor for a number of textbooks. Outside of work, she likes to stay active by running, hiking, and snowboarding, and is an avid fan of crossword puzzles, reading, and travel.
